Embarking on the new journey of comprehensively building a socialist modernized country, the city of Wuxi has continued to promote the mission of high-quality development by taking the initiative and working hard to create an innovation-driven and low-carbon scenario so as to write a new chapter of high-quality development.

In early summer, the Xiaoxi Port in Wuxi saw clear water and swimming fish and shrimp. The walkway over the water is like a jade belt, showcasing the beauty of natural ecology. This used to be a noisy fish market wharf. The operators built the wharf without permission and operated illegally, resulting in a large amount of waste and affecting the water quality of the Taihu Lake.

Since 2020, with the implementation of the project of returning fish to the lake and the fishing ban in the Taihu Lake, the "fish market" of Xiaoxi Port was abolished, followed by more than 30 thousand square meters of water ecological restoration and about 70 thousand square meters of environmental remediation, giving rise to the scene of clean water and swimming fish.

“We covered the bottom of the pool with water plants, and put into it a certain proportion of benthos and plankton, thus forming a self-circulating biosphere to ensure that the water quality can remain stable in Class III or above for a long time”, Wu Yong, Deputy General Manager of Jiangsu Jiangda Ecological Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., said.

Spearheaded by Xiaoxi Port, 816 demonstration rivers and lakes across Wuxi have beautified the life of citizens and guarded the "entrance gate" for the cleanup of the Taihu Lake.

At present, the water quality of 13 rivers leading into the Taihu Lake has remained stable in Class III or above. The city has also built three National Wetland Parks that include Lihu Lake, Changguangxi River, and Liang Hong as well as 6 provincial wetland parks and 30 wetland protection communities.

The "Sunway TaihuLight" supercomputer, which can perform 1 billion high-speed operations per second and has ranked first in the global supercomputer ranking list for four consecutive times, is providing supercomputing power for enterprises in Wuxi.

This" strongest brain "system has a peak performance of 125 million billion times, sustained performance of 93 million billion times, and a power consumption ratio of 6.05 billion times per watt, equivalent to over 2 million ordinary laptops working simultaneously.

With the high-speed computing capability of the "Sunway TaihuLight", Wuxi Supercomputing Center has supported an average of more than 7000 program operations every day by carrying out applications in many scientific fields, such as climate and meteorology, geophysics, marine science, and material science.

“Our processor is completely self-designed and has independent intellectual property rights. We have created a high-performance industrial simulation platform to provide users with easy-to-use and inexpensive software toolkits, which can accelerate the digital transformation of SMEs and improve their R&D efficiency”, Zhou Hanlong, R&D Engineer of Wuxi Center for National Supercomputing, said.

By relying on technological innovation as the primary driving force, Wuxi is accelerating the fusion of industries, the qualitative transformation of technology, and the fission of applications.

As the only national sensor network innovation demonstration zone in China, Wuxi has formed an IoT cluster with an annual output value of hundreds of billions of yuan, with over 3000 enterprises involved in the entire industrial chain of chips, sensing devices, network communication, intelligent hardware, application services, etc.

In the China Nanshan Wuxi Connected Vehicle Town, there are all kinds of magic vehicles such as the intelligent sweeper with the ability to identify garbage with high accuracy, and safe and reliable unmanned minibuses that can shuttle between stations and residential areas, providing a prototype for the development of the connected vehicle industry in China.

“In the next step, we will increase investment to consolidate the industrial chain, continue to gather all kinds of connected vehicle enterprises, industry-university-research institutions, and incubate high-quality enterprises”, Zheng Hongbo, CEO of China Nanshan Wuxi Connected Vehicle Town, said.
