East China’s Jiangsu province has got ready for the annual college entrance exam or gaokao that will last from June 6 to 8. Let’s take a close look.

Xuzhou launched on Monday a volunteer service activity to provide various transportation services for test takers who are sick, and disabled or from impoverished families.

Jiangsu has carried out a special elevator safety inspection in residential areas and hotels near examination centers throughout the province by developing an emergency rescue plan to ensure that maintenance workers would arrive at the site for maintenance within 10 minutes when test candidates may encounter malfunctions while taking the elevator so as to ensure that the test-takers could enter the examination room as soon as possible.

“Jiangsu has experienced continuous high temperatures and rainfall. We have therefore focused on such issues as to whether there is water in the computer room, whether emergency rescue calls are unobstructed, and whether maintenance calls can respond promptly”, Su Nan, Deputy Director of the Elevator Inspection Office of the Affiliated Branch of Jiangsu Provincial Special Inspection Institute, said.

The market supervision departments in Huai"an and Yancheng organized special inspections on food safety by punishing various violations.

“For the food safety of teachers, students, and exam staff, we must ensure that the test-takers will have access to qualified food”, Liu Xiangxing, Market Supervision and Administration Bureau of Huai"an District, Huai"an City, said.

Zhenjiang has made temporary adjustments to some bus routes to ensure traffic order on the surrounding roads of various examination sites.

“We will increase the frequency of some bus routes, step up video surveillance on bus routes, monitor road conditions and passenger flow to ensure the safety and smooth travel of the test-takers during the college entrance examination period”, Fan Yanxin, Director of the Intelligent Dispatching Emergency Command Center of Zhenjiang Public Transport Co., Ltd., said.

“We have sorted out the power supply of the school and requested to strengthen duty throughout the exam period. Once there is a situation, we will take emergency measures”, Feng Jianjun, Customer Manager, Marketing Department, Taixing Power Supply Company, said.
