Jiangsu revs up major transport infrastructure project construction

East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major transport infrastructure projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to fulfill goals for social and economic development. JSBC has the story.

On Sunday morning, Yancheng completed the pouring of concrete for the first continuous beam of Dafeng Port Branch line, marking the transition of the railway project from offline foundation construction to upper beam structure construction.

The first continuous beam of Dafeng Port Branch line has a total length of 113.2 meters. The upper overpass of the first-class highway is constructed by cast-in-situ scaffolding.

After more than 10 hours of continuous operation, the construction team poured 922 cubic meters of concrete in one go, completing the first continuous beam construction on the entire line.

“Today, the first of the 8 continuous cast-in-place continuous beams on the entire line was poured, which is a control project for this section and marks the beginning of the superstructure construction of the bridge project. We plan to complete the construction of all continuous beams by the end of the year, opening the final channel for sea rail intermodal transportation”, Qin Zongqiang, Deputy Manager of Dafeng Port Branch line Lot 2 Project Department of China Railway Shanghai Engineering Bureau, said.

The 50.6 km Dafeng Port Branch line starts from the south end of Dafeng West Station of Xinchang Railway and ends at Dafeng Port Station. It is expected to be open to traffic in February 2025 after two years and six months of construction.

This Branch line will enable Dafeng Port District to directly connect Xinyi–Changxing railway through the Branch line, and become an important sea passage for cargo transportation in the central region and inland cities.

On July 8th, four continuous jacks were operating simultaneously, and over 3200 tons of simply supported steel truss beams were pushed. At this point, both the left and right sides of the main line of the North Line were pushed in place on the right side of the 345 National Highway Super Large Bridge of the main line of Section 2 of the North Link of the Changtai Expressway.

The 32-kilometer-longnorth-south highway connection project of Changtai Yangtze River Bridge starts from Taixing East Hub at the intersection with G40 Shanghai–Xi"an Expressway and ends at Chunjiang Hub at the intersection with Jiangyi Expressway.

The construction requirements for the super large bridge spanning National Highway 345 on the main line are very high, as a 155 meter simply supported steel truss beam structure must be used. The total weight of the steel structure of the entire bridge is about 6400 tons, and the maximum assembly height of the bridge members is 33 meters, which requires the connection accuracy to be controlled within 1 millimeter.

“We have conducted research on key technical issues in launching construction, overcoming multiple construction difficulties such as uneven high precision requirements for the left and right trusses of steel beam launching deviation, and accumulating valuable construction experience for similar projects”,An Peng, Project Leader of Changtai Expressway of China Railway 20th Bureau, said.

The Changtai Expressway, which connects the Shanghai Shaanxi Expressway and Jiangyi Expressway from north to south, is of great significance in improving the regional expressway network, promoting cross river cooperation between Changzhou and Taixing, and accelerating the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.
