East China’s Jiangsu province has stepped up the construction of major transport infrastructure projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to fulfill goals for social and economic development.
After more than 10 hours of uninterrupted work, the construction team completed the installation of the first double cantilever large section steel beam for the main channel bridge of the Changzhou Taixing Yangtze River Bridge.
The lifting operation is located on both sides of the 6th main tower of the bridge. Two 1700-ton beam lifting cranes synchronously lift two 1540-ton large section steel beams to a design position of 80 meters high, completing precise docking. The Changzhou-Taixing Yangtze River Bridge has a main span of 1176 meters and is the world"s largest cable-stayed bridge for both highway and railway use.
“In order to lift the entire section of 1540 tons, we used two sets of 1700 ton beam erection cranes specially designed by China Railway Bridge Bureau for the Taixing Bridge in Changzhou. Currently, it is the largest crane with double main trusses in China. We expect to achieve the closure of the bridge in May next year”, Zhang Ziquan, Director of Mechanical Equipment of Changzhou Taixing River Bridge Project Department of China Railway Bridge Bureau, said.
At 5 and 6 o"clock in the morning, at the construction site of the auxiliary tower of the South Channel Bridge of the Zhangjiagang-Jingjiang-Rugao Yangtze River Bridge, an approximately 83-ton first section steel tower of 16-meter-long, 7- meter-wide, 5.1-meter-high, was steadily lifted from the barge and accurately landed on the bearing platform support pier, marking the completion of the lifting construction of the first section tower column.
“The side cables connecting the anchorage of the main tower of the Zhangjiagang- Jingjiang-Rugao Yangtze River Bridge on the southern route show an asymmetric form, with a span of 1220 meters for the southern side cables, which is nearly twice as long as the northern side cables. To solve the stability problem caused by ultra long side spans, we innovatively installed auxiliary towers on the side spans. The smooth installation of the first section of the steel tower marks the beginning of a new phase in the construction of the main bridge of the Zhangjiagang-Jingjiang-Rugao Yangtze River Bridge”, Dai Junping, Deputy Site Commander of Zhangjiagang-Jingjiang-Rugao Yangtze River Bridge Construction Headquarters of Jiangsu Transportation engineering Construction Bureau, said.
The Zhangjiagang-Jingjiang-Rugao Yangtze River Bridge is of great significance in promoting the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region and optimizing the layout of the Yangtze River bridges and tunnels.
