The urban management and gardening department of Changzhou has built an Internet of Things pest monitoring site to automatically collect pest warning information, effectively solve the problem of plant protection in urban green space, and improve the management on the prevention and control of pests in green space.
On a recent morning, workers from the Green Management Guidance Station of Changzhou Urban Management Bureau arrived at the Xinlong Ecological Forest Pest Monitoring Site where they inspected and collected the trapped pests in response to the pest warning information received on their mobile phones.
As a pest in urban green space, the copper green golden tortoise endangers the normal underground growth of plants. The intelligent pest forecasting lamp in the monitoring site, according to the phototaxis characteristics of the copper green golden tortoise, traps it at night, identifies and analyzes data through the Internet of Things, and uploads it to the harmful biological pest control information platform of Changzhou Urban Management and Gardening Bureau to provide decision-making reference for plant protection.
"The monitoring range of the pest monitoring lamp is 400 meters in diameter. We can collect pest data through computer screens in the office without leaving home thereby saving manpower," Zhu Zhen, Deputy Director of Technical Department of Greening Management Guidance Station of Changzhou Urban Management Bureau, said.
At present, Changzhou has built Internet of Things pest monitoring sites in Xinlong Ecological Forest in Xinbei District, High speed Railway Park and Jintan District Sports Park.
According to the different characteristics of pests, the monitoring sites are also equipped with automatic target pest detection and reporting systems, central control systems, and some other devices.
In the next step, Changzhou"s fully automated IoT monitoring sites and grid administrators will share a mobile app platform to achieve human-computer cooperation, joint prevention and control, and weave a network of pest urban governance information to ensure the biological safety of urban green space.
